This perfect gastropub moved into an obscurely located corner bar in Prospect Heights. The front room retains its old-Brooklyn feel (and jukebox), while the back room has been transformed into a sunny cafe. True to its gastropub nature, the food is mainly for the sake of comfort, with a few creative twists thrown in. Among the comfortable, find a fine roast chicken with a woodsy mushroom gravy, poised atop buttery mashed potatoes. The hamburger is great, and so is the massive short rib with polenta. Dishes that are too creative sometimes fall flat: crumb-stuffed baked oysters turn out to be a bad idea, the texture too rubbery, though the deep-fried cauliflower proves superb. Beer selection revolves around Kelso, the microbrewey located in adjacent Clinton Hill.
