Though founded in Paris by a small Normand grocer way back in 1886, Fauchon only opened its first U.S. location in 2000, on Park Avenue. It took only about 100 years for France to share, but now New Yorkers can partake of this ultimate specialty-foods store: exquisite handmade chocolates, rare blends of teas, unusual jams like pumpkin preserve flavored with rum and vanilla, tea biscuits, and madeleines in charming pink boxes and tins, and yeah, thereas Beluga. They also seem to specialize in immaculately assembled gift baskets.
