Feast is a friendly, cheerful little restaurant in the East Village that specializes in group dining, offering a handful of set menus each night that change, a bit slowly, with the seasons (including a vegetarian one). Nose to tail lamb feasting, as it's called, could explore more parts of the animal to qualify as nose to tail, and miniaturized bites alongside single-serve portions can lend the meals the feeling of boring passed hors d'oeuvres. But there are certainly some highlights on Christopher Meenan's menu, like fresh pasta wrapped up with lamb shanks and preserved lemon. But somehow getting many small plates at once here doesn't feel as generous as it should. Instead, the meal involves all the rules of high-end tasting menus with few of the pleasures of family-style dining. If only Feast could find its feet and play with the format so the restaurant felt more like a debaucherous dinner and less like a catered cocktail hour, it could be a great (and affordable) place to dine with friends at the end of a tough work week. --Tejal Rao
