We went with some skepticism to the sixth branch of this Chinese provincial-food empire. Then the signature tea-smoked duck knocked our socks off;even the accompanying cucumbers had a barbecued flavor. Supposedly the owner perpetually scours the Sichuan countryside for new recipes, and evidence of his quest is a chile chicken that hides tidbits of poultry in a nest of toasted red chiles. And you can't beat the view of bustling St. Marks Place from the window tables.
