This East Village newcomer is actually the third evocation of a Brooklyn chain that specializes in food from South Asia and the Middle East, an odd combination until you realize that the halal certification of the meat means Gyro King is a pan-Muslim spot. The lamb curry special is spot-on, leaving a prodigious mustard oil burn in your throat, and served with a very nice salad topped with yogurt dressing, moist rice, and an extra vegetable if you ask nicely. The gyros are fine, but consider some of the other kebabs. The interior is long, narrow, and sickly green, which shouldn"t deter you from getting some pretty good and cheap chow here.
