Partly organic, partly vegan, and all vegetarian, Happy Buddha espouses the meat-substitute version of Chinese vegetarian cuisine. The crispy eel (really, breaded tendrils of black mushroom) comes sided with a welcome fruit garnish, and there are fruit juices and smoothies galore. Certain Cantonese standards-like sautéed pea shoots in an agreeably salty broth-remain intact. Oddest thing on the menu is a vegetarian version of Italian spaghetti and meatballs laced with plenty of garlic. Hey, it wasn't half bad, but the New Age music nearly drove us nuts.
