Hirai Mong bills itself as a Korean-Chinese restaurant, a distinct cuisine developed in areas like Incheon, South Korea, which once had a very large ethnic Chinese population. You start with the usual banchan, like kimchi and pickled radish, but also with one that's particular to Korean-Chinese: slices of raw onion with black bean sauce for dipping. There are noodles aplenty, including a very tasty jampong--wheat noodles in a spicy, onion-heavy broth, augmented with octopus, small shrimp, and mussels.
