As befits a place so obscurely located (across the street from Inwood Hill Park), the restaurant tries to be all things to all people, including a pastry-rich coffee bar, upscale innovative restaurant, and grocery store. It only partly succeeds. The salads are especially good, and the sandwiches are a good choice for a picnic in the park. While the wine list is fine, the beer list easily outstrips it, with dozens of estimable bottles from small producers. Among the restaurant offerings, we loved the vegetarian Thai green curry and the Indian Road signature salad (with sun-dried tomatoes and goat cheese), but found the lobster mac-and-cheese deficient in crustacean flavor, even though a good-size piece of claw meat was poised on top. The freshly filled cannoli are the way to go, dessert-wise.
