Taavo Somer, the man behind the popular Manhattan spots Freemans and Peels, ventured to Williamsburg to open this “primitive modernist” space that resembles an airy-but-rustic Scandinavian farmhouse with a large open kitchen. Local hipsters pack the joint nightly and nosh on small plates that are equally innovative. Expect to see dishes including a sardine with olives, garnished with its fried skeleton; scallop crudo with sweet potato leaves; pickled daikon and kombu; and Treviso with vegan cheese. Some are exciting, while others need some work. Note, though, that all portions are tiny.
