Looking for a classy place to have lunch before or after museum hopping? Located across the street from the verdant rear end of the American Museum of Natural History, Isabella's has been going strong for two decades, offering many pleasant seating options in the bi-level interior and in a sidewalk café. Lunch is an especially good deal, and we loved our creamy corn chowder decorated with a wad of crabmeat for added richness. Speaking of rich, the lunch-only flame-grilled burger is the juiciest in the neighborhood; festooned with double-smoked bacon it achieves perfection. Other entrees run to meal-size salads, grilled hunks of meat and seafood, and opulently dressed pastas. If there's a drawback here, it lies in a certain corporateness about food and service.
