It's not hard to deduce why this East Village noodle spot draws so many young people. It's on the busiest stretch of St. Mark's Place for one thing, next to a plethora of bars and karaoke joints. The décor is strangely futuristic, all sleek curves, geometric sculptures and modern light fixtures. Upstairs you'll find two- and four-tops for couples and small groups, while downstairs giant communal tables host large parties. The menu is a mix of moderately priced sushi and pan-Asian fare like satay skewers, pad Thai, fried rice and inventive sushi like the New Orleans Roll (smoked salmon, apple, lobster salad and avocado). Noodles are especially popular here. Choose your noodle (egg noodle, ramen, thin rice noodle and udon) and a protein, ranging from pork ribs to tofu, which are served in a variety of different broths. Of course, you don't attract young people without booze; here that includes Sapporo by the pitcher, bottles of premium sake, sake cocktails and a few wines by the glass and bottle.—Keith Wagstaff
