This playful, upscale Kosher restaurant replaces the faces on classic paintings with those of modern Jewish celebrities. Start with onion rolls and carrot puree, followed by delicate lamb agnolotti, then move on to steaks or chops, all under the watch of Serge Gainsbourg and Woody Allen. Those looking for riffs on gefilte fish will come only as far as a Jewish-Italian wedding soup and a salad of roasted and pickled beets—the menu is decidedly more modern American than classic Jewish. Jezebel’s bordello-like lounge serves great seasonal cocktails and wine to the Soho set, but can also act as an intimate locale for family dinners and business meetings. The Sabbath is observed at sundown from Friday to Saturday, and the kitchen offers a prepaid, prefix Shabbat dinner for those looking to observe in style.
