There are plenty of bar-hopping 20-somethings in the East Village and Kumo does its best to cater to them. Enter to find a sleek space outfitted with white leather banquettes and jet black tables, with a neon-lit sushi bar in the back. The young crowd doesn't seem to mind the throbbing hip-hop music.
Why do they come here instead of the myriad other sushi joints in the neighborhood? The all-you-can-eat-sushi and all-you-can-drink deal might have something to do with it. Pay $31.95 and you can stuff your face with all of the sushi and alcohol you can stomach with no limitations, meaning you can order specialty rolls as well as your choice of any sake, beer or wine on the drink menu. If don¹t feel like stuffing yourself, you can always stop in for happy hour (Sun-Thu, 5pm to 7pm) for two-for-one specials on all drinks. The restaurant also serves hearty curries, udon noodles and fried rice.—Keith Wagstaff
