La Papa is one of the city's stranger fast food outlets: a Turkish joint specializing in baked potatoes stuffed with a wild choice of ingredients. The "classic," for example, features pickles, pitted green olives, kernels of corn, sliced mini-hot dogs, and a Russian salad that, rather absurdly, piles mayo-smeared potatoes on top of a baked potato. For purists, the $4 "basic potato" simply blends the spud's guts with butter and kasseri cheese, and then piles it back into the potato. Delicious! Especially if you add salt. Other fast food offerings include Turkish paninis, soups, and do-it-yourself salads.
