This cozy little restaurant tucked away on a quiet stretch of 6th Street in the East Village specializes in vegan Vietnamese cuisine. The space is small and homey, outfitted with potted plants and photos of flowers hanging on the white-painted brick walls. Expect tweaked Vietnamese classics like grilled lemongrass seitan, tofu lemongrass curry and vegetarian spring rolls on rice vermicelli, along with a few dishes from other Asian cultures like a tofu-packed pad Thai, all priced affordably at around $9. The veggie banh mi sandwiches and pho soup are popular items during lunch. If you need a caffeine buzz during the day, stop in for the potent Vietnamese coffee, made with condensed or soy milk. Fresh-squeezed juices and shakes, made with everything from papaya to carrots, are a nice healthy touch. The lack of alcohol on the menu is disappointing until you realize the restaurant is BYOB.—Keith Wagstaff
