It's hard to miss the cute green awning and exterior paint job. Inside, the restaurant has a homey, bistro feel, with little wooden tables flanked by green-and-white chairs and vintage prints. The menu also has a simple charm to it. Mussels cooked in a white wine sauce, oven-roasted free-range chicken and pasture-raised skirt steak are some of the more formal dishes available, but Le Gamin is also loved for its more casual café fare, such as its gooey croque monsieur, sweet and savory crepes and fluffy quiches. The doors open at 8am, meaning you can stop in before work for a warm croissant sandwich or an egg dish like the ouef gamin, featuring a poached egg served on a goat cheese potato cake with ratatouille. The back garden, filled with colorful wooden benches and umbrella-shaded tables, is a nice option for when the sun is out.—Keith Wagstaff
