This Hell's Kitchen bakery and mini-grocery features all the usual pan dolce-Mexican pastries in garish colors clumped with granulated sugar-and a handful of tables where you can watch the hurly-burly outside while sipping an iced coffee. But look for the metal flying saucer resting on the floor right in front of the register. Once the lid is doffed and the steam clears, you'll see a neatly arranged collection of the city's best tamales. Our favorite is the stubby chicken tamale oozing deep brown mole out the ends, but there are also red and green versions. Two make a meal.
