Lucy's is named after the Betty White of Alphabet City: a beloved, alcohol-distributing grandmother figure who presides over a motley mix of locals, regulars, and neighbors. From the sheet-covered windows, you can tell that this quintessential dive is something more than a quintessential dive-it's a clubhouse. People know each other's names here. Fitted with two pool tables, non-seasonal Christmas lights, and neon beer signs, it has all the dive-bar conventions minus the faux-antique decor of neighboring bars--everything in here has aged through genuine repeated use. Make sure to say hi to Lucy when you drop by; she'll be smiling behind the bar.
