The Express is a side project of the pan-Asian restaurant Mangez Avec Moi, a mainly-carryout specializing in the Vietnamese heroes called banh mi. These sandwiches are larger and lusher than usual, and it more than makes up for the $6 price tag (most banh mi in town are a dollar or two cheaper). The #1 is preferred, a bulging mix of roasted pork and pate, heaped with pickled carrot and daikon, cucumbers, a mix of fresh herbs, mayo, and--stealth ingredient--balsamic vinegar. An impressive range of beverage (including Japanese teas) is available to wash it down. Other sandwich fillings included pork chop, chicken, Indonesian chicken sate, salmon, vegetarian, and tofu.
