Mini Cake Street Cart

SE Corner of Grand St. & Bowery
New York, NY 10002
Near the R-train exit at 8th Avenue in Sunset Park sits a little cart with the words "Mini Cakes" spelled out with stick-on red letters. It smells like an entire bakery was somehow been stuffed inside, but the cakes arenat baked at all. An almond extract-infused batter is poured into a mold with round divots and heated until it browns like a waffle. Twenty of the warm, round little "cakes", which taste like fortune cookies, are collected in a paper bag for $1. As the vendor put it: "Smells good, tastes good."
