Occupying a large part of the second floor of the new shopping mall and apartment complex called Queens Crossing, MuLan is an ambitious new restaurant self-described as Asian fusion. The relentlessly white dining room features trickling curtains of water. Alas, the food is often hit or miss, with too much sugar overall. We loved the wu-bsi ribs, a teetering mountain of tender meat napped in sauce, but the dim sum platter was only so-so, and tasted reheated. A jelly fish salad was copious and inexpensive, while the huge serving of "mao-poe bean curd" lacked the heat of the Sichuan original, while paying inadvertent homage to a Chinese leader and an American short story writer.
