Heralded by a neon bowl of noodles and no English signage, Nam Zhou is the latest addition to our wonderful collection of hand-pulled noodles spots. The menu is slender in the extreme, offering soup noodles with beef, beef brisket, pork chop, or our fave ; lamb, which comes in big, nearly boneless, skin-on hunks. Modified with miniature red dates, the rich brown broth glistens with fat droplets and tastes of cinnamon and star anise. There is one dry noodle offering that features minced pork, and, of course, pork and chive dumplings, which are as good as any in greater Chinatown. Don't be deterred by the down-at-the-heals appearance of the premises; the noodles are spectacular.
