This long-running sushi bar has been around since the days when East Village hipsters considered the Japanese restaurants in their nabe to be the defacto diners, places to get cheap meals on a regular basis. Consisting of a pair of narrow dining rooms and an tiny outdoor seating area, Natori is one of those places. There"s an early-bird sushi dinner special till 7pm every evening that gets you a nice assortment with soup or salad and a beer or sake included for $14, and there are many other interesting choices that, for example, match a big filet of sea-salt mackerel with four other small dishes, representing exactly the way Japanese like to eat.
