A throwback to the time before the East Village was filled with specialty cocktail speakeasies, Nice Guy Eddie's is an unpretentious spot to down a Bud and clean off a plate full of chicken wings. Outside, a mural of KISS, surrounded by lightning bolts and holding a surfboard with the bar's name on it, advertises the place to passersby. Inside, the gray tile floors and glass-topped tables filled with hundreds of old coasters look like they were specifically designed to spill booze onto. The menu is basic pub grub: wings served with blue cheese, burgers, chicken fingers, potato skins stuffed with cheese and bacon, cheesy nachos topped with warm ground beef. Scarf your food down and then play a game of pool or watch the game on one of the large flat-screen TVs. Pitchers of domestic brews are the most popular drinking option, although beers like Stella and Bass are also on tap.—Keith Wagstaff
