Though this tavern with a verdant backyard styles itself a tapas bar, the food often falls outside the Spanish canon. Favorite dishes on a first visit included bitter greens drenched with parmesan and garlic sauce, a crusty mac and cheese, thick slices of beefsteak rubbed with spices and done rare, and a fairly spectacular chorizo-and-chicken gumbo, a special that evening. If the service wasn't so bad, and the drinks a tad less expensive, we'd give this joint a pick and eat full meals there. Instead, it's just a good place for a snack and a single glass of tempranillo.
