Surely the most ambitious library restaurant to date, Open Book Cafe is owned by Spencer Rothschild, also of Barrio, BLT Prime and Calle Ocho, and offers salads, sweets, sandwiches (lobster sliders, barbecued pork sliders, etc), tacos and quesadillas. The food is served al fresco, at tables under the shadow of the library's impressive facade. We like the Thai chicken-shrimp cobb salad, dressed in coconut milk, lightened by the addition of crunchy diced jicama. The fiery popcorn on the side, while not exactly fiery, is very tasty.
