Not content with their own indigenous forms of fast food, New Yorkers are constantly looking to replicate everyone else's, including Philadelphia's cheesesteak. An example in the Cheez Whiz sweepstakes (sweepsteaks?) is Philly Slim's. Despite not being quite as good as Carl's Steaks on the East Side, Slim's makes a formidable challenge, distinguished mainly by its use of larger quantities of wadded meat, though the subsequent quantity of cheese-food product and fried onions is diminished. But skip the invented buffalo chicken steak-sour snippets of breast meat gobbed with mayo.
