July 2-3: Public Tours — 9am-4pm July 4: “People’s Parade of Ships” 9:00am-3:00pm Parade can be seen from: Battery Park, and either side of the Hudson River (e.g. Chelsea Piers or Hoboken, NJ).
Tour an authentic, hand-made replica of the 18th century ship, Hermione, the Marquis de Lafayette sailed to bring word of French aid for the Revolutionary War. New Yorkers can re-live Revolutionary War history this Fourth of July through Lafayette’s Hermione Voyage 2015, a two-month sail of 3,819 miles across the Atlantic from France to the U.S. The ship will land in New York on July 1 at South Street Seaport – New York’s most iconic and historic seaport; open to the public July 2-3, it will then lead a parade of 100+ ships past the Statue of Liberty in a salute on the 4th of July. Seventeen years in the re-making, the authentically reconstructed Hermione will certainly be a once-in-a-lifetime sight to see.
