Unlike the Pig 'n' Whistle in Times Square, the chain's Midtown incarnation tends to a less rowdy bunch. "If your wife is shopping at Bloomingdale's, sit here and have a beer," reads a sign next to the bar. It's good advice. Six plasma televisions flank the left side of the room; a mini stage, situated on the right, hosts DJs, live music, and karaoke throughout the week. While this Pig 'n' Whistle has the Gaelic flair of its sister bars, such as Guinness-endorsing posters and Irish crests, it differentiates itself with some Old New York elegance, namely inlaid seating with circular flourishes on each tile. Make that beer a Guinness with a side of shepherd's pie - it's worth it.
