This glittering box of a restaurant, located on the edge of Elmhurst, beats the pants off its Manhattan sister at 22 Mott Street. Why does Chinese food always taste better in Queens? The wide-ranging Hong Kong menu does humble regional food proud-Sichuan ma po bean curd, for example, heaped with pork and pungent bean sauce is a bargain. The crisp-skinned garlic chicken, too, is much better than it needs to be. Big ticket entrées and chef inventions also excel: whole fish squirming in tanks done a dozen ways, say, or a Portuguese rice casserole originating in Macao.
