This chain pizzeria originated in Treviso, Italy, but the branch in the Village might have been delivered from the moon, so strange and inscrutable is the ambience. Produced in a wood-burning oven, the pizzas verge on the sublime, in particular the ones that imitate the great pies of Naples. Regina Margherita is the simplest use of the crust imaginable--a few gobs of creamy mozzarella, a smear of tomato sauce, and a single brave basil leaf. Pies from the seemingly endless list tend toward the vegetarian and the Brazilian (!), and the short wine list is a really good deal, especially the Orvieto Rosso.
