This ancient nag of a Greek gyros joint still has plenty of fight left in her. One nibble of the flame-grilled meat platter (beef kebab, lamb gyro-and, surprise!-Italian sausage), or the even-better pork kebab, will clue you in to the culinary seriousness of Plaka. Request a metal carafe of the chilled retsina, then dig into the amazing galeo platter-breaded and fried cross sections of sand shark sided by an equal volume of the shouting-with-garlic potato dip called skordalia. And the charred octopus tentacles and voluminous Greek salad ainat half bad, either. Best of all: the cloudlike moussaka.
