Popsicles have gone gourmet at this tiny West Village dessert shop. The concept: choose from a variety of handmade gelato flavors, which are stuck on a stick and dipped in various coatings like dark chocolate, chopped pistachios, coconut shreds and biscotti crumbles. You can also get sorbet on a stick, made with 100 percent fruit, or get your morning meal of yogurt in popsicle form. Although everything is made in-house, the concept came from Italy, where its parent company Stick House started. Think of the Popbar as a kind of futuristic popsicle stand, all gleaming white surfaces and glowing popsicle sculptures, which are centered around a colorful array of popsicles tucked inside a glass counter. The space itself is small and standing room only. Most customers are parents and their kids, who eat their treats outside while walking down Carmine Street. Those with food restrictions should be glad to know that everything is kosher and gluten-free.—Keith Wagstaff
