Handily sideswiping Momofuku SsA$?m Bar, this new fast-food emporium (with seating) concentrates on small sandwiches made with the Korean steamed and seeded dumplings called mantou, with a broader and quirkier selection than its competitor. Plushest of all is the short rib and kimchi sandwich, which drips with grease and spicy red fluid, but the vegetarian combo of shiitake and oyster mushrooms smeared with a seaweed pesto is also a formidable taste treat. The menu is rounded out with salads and daily special sandwiches, but skip the alluring kobe beef burger, which is dry and lifeless.
