This boozy Korean chicken joint is a hoot, if you can find it. Climb up an unassuming stairway in Koreatown and open a non-descript door to find a bar and restaurant pounding with hip-hop and R&B. Sports flicker on TVs overhead as waitresses race by with pitchers of Stella, Bud Light, Blue Moon and Samuel Adams. Everyone, from groups of Korean 20-somethings to tie-loosened businessmen, has huge plates of chicken on their table. It's rotisserie-roasted and then deep-fried for an airy crispiness, and it comes with a mountain of thin-cut fries, fried garlic and a bottle of vinegary hot sauce. A large portion can easily feed two, if not more. There are other things on the menu (spicy stir-fried octopus, calamari, hot wings, etc.) but the Baden Baden Chicken is what just about everybody orders. If not for the food on the table and the Korean sign outside, this place, with its staid wooden details and buzzed din, could just as easily be an Irish pub. It's open late as well, making it great for both pre- and post-karaoke drinking.—Keith Wagstaff
