Satsko

Endemically Alphabet City, this is not your sleek sake bar catering to the midtown suit-and-tie crowd. At Sake Bar Satsko you're more likely to drink among NYU students and downtown hipsters, no doubt attracted to its hole-in-the-wall appeal. Beaded boudior lamps, pillowy benches, and walls decorated with Polaroids of past, equally hip diners, make for a relaxing hang out spot. The sake selection is decent without getting too fancy, and small plates like dumplings and gyoza are a nice supplement. The location between Avenues B and C makes for a nice pre- or post- dinner destination, with Tompkins Square Park a very close by.
