It's a nifty idea--this narrow stall in the West Village concentrates on hawker food from Indonesia. Like the name says, the menu specializes in satays, the miniature Javanese shish-kebabs, and there's no better snack. Three will set you back $5, from a list that runs from traditional staples like chicken and lamb, to odd-ball items like fish, vegetables, and tofu. You'll also find a handful of soups and salads, including the steamed-vegetable salad gado-gado, and the chicken soup satay ayam. Alas, though the food is well-prepared, it's almost never spicy--but that will be considered an advantage for some diners. All-in-all, a very cute place with decent food.
