This century-old corner bakery-all windows, mirrors, and sparkling showcases-excels at the usual southern Italian pastries and biscotti (originally intended to be dunked in wine), but a sign in the window reading Bakery Pizzas drew us in. We found them neatly lined up on a rear counter, eight-inch bread receptacles with a high circumferential edge, which held in a rich tomato sauce and gobs of homemade mozzarella. The dough is notably "short," meaning it has crisping fat in it, and the price can't be beat.
