Soy is a comfortable hole-in-the-wall specializing in Japanese home cooking, like vegetable-tofu stew, homemade gyoza and creamy beef curry with rice. Although there are meat and fish dishes to be had, the restaurant focuses on soy in all its guises: tofu, soy milk, edamame. The food is pleasurable in the manner of home cooking;a little rough around the edges, flavorful and generous. The miso tofu with broccoli sounds like austere diet food but turns out to be hearty and delicious, the jiggly tofu cubes sticky with miso paste.
