First it was neighborhood Chinese, then Peruvian, next Japanese sake bar, and now, at long last, this Cobble Hill space is a Sichuan restaurant. While the food is less zingy than that of, say, a Sicuanese stall in a Flushing food court, it is quite good, and the various sources of heat are nicely balanced. The queen of the cuisine, the tea-smoked duck, is here rendered as well as anywhere else in town, and the dan-dan noodles are appropriately oily and beany. Made with streaky pork rather than lean pork chunks, the twice-cooked pork represents a sort of revenge on all the neighborhood Chinese restaurants that abused the dish, and the wontons in the Chendgu style are also worth grokking. Hint: Best dishes are the in Chef's Special and Appetizers sections.
