Tacos de los Muertos ("Tacos of the Dead," referring to the Mexican holiday Day of the Dead) is a modest sort of establishment, and an apparent boon to its corner of Prospect Heights. The menu focuses almost entirely on the corn-based meals called antojitos: nachos, quesadillas, tacos, and tostadas, with outsize burritos as a sort of Cal-Mex afterthought. The fillings are the standouts here, more like those in Mexico than those at your random gringo taqueria. We were delighted to find a mole poblano made with turkey--which was the original purpose of the fabled sauce. For vegetarians, mushrooms with chiles and yellow squash with corn are the two toothsome stuffing choices.
