It stands to reason that the tallest building in New York City would have a massive bar. The 3,500-square-foot Empire Room mixes Art Deco elements borrowed from its famous home with more contemporary touches. The stately, curved marble bar just might be the most impressive thing in the place; here, people sit in brown leather chairs drinking specialty cocktails like the Empire Cocktail (gin, vermouth, fresh lemon juice, raspberry-orange marmalade, Moet & Chandon champagne) and the Martinique Daisy (orange peel-infused rum, lemon juice, Peychaud's bitters, ginger beer). Classic cocktails, wines by the glass and bottle and craft beers are also available. There is a small selection of gourmet snacks like rib-eye sliders, truffle oil-drizzled popcorn, cheese and charcuterie plates and more. The place fills up as the midtown crowd gets off work, settling into plush modern couches and leather banquettes under elaborate hanging crystal chandeliers.—Keith Wagstaff
