This West Village joint has been providing locals with lunch since 1983. Its specialty is their fresh-roasted turkey, which is topped with homemade herbal mayo, romaine lettuce and tomato. The other sandwiches are no slouches either, filled with ingredients like homemade tuna salad, sautéed steak, freshly cooked roast beef and more. Every sandwich on the menu comes on your choice of French, Italian, Seven Grain or Semolina bread. During lunch, you can come in and use the free Wi-Fi while you eat. The BYOB policy comes in handy when you're looking for a cheap dinner option in an otherwise pricey neighborhood. The restaurant itself is small and homey, filled with worn-in wooden furniture you might find in a family¹s dining room, the only commotion being the man diligently making sandwiches behind the long counter. There is a small breakfast menu as well, not to mention soups, salads, coffee drinks and freshly squeezed juices.—Keith Wagstaff
