Fabrice Vautrin, owner of the former Les Infants Terribles, has teamed with Yassine Bentaleb of Le Pere Pinard to bring us a this wine bar that's wonderfully French in both aesthetic and substance. To describe it as a dark cellar might be technically accurate, but fails to address it's inherent sensuality. The warmly lit, mahogany-heavy Lower East Side spot is easy to miss—we don't recall any sign outside—but all the more charming for it. The wine list is serious business: you can apprehend a standard $11 glass or opt for a $600 bottle Chateau Chalon from 1947. Chances are there's something in stock from the year you were born.
