Adding to the progressively rich dining landscape in Bay Ridge, the poetic Woodburning Pit is a type of Portuguese restaurant known as a churrasquiera, not to be confused with a Brazilian churrascaria. That means individually ordered meats of predictable portion, including some amazing pork ribs, small in size but bursting with saline flavor, and chicken-also cooked on a hand-cranked rotisserie over charcoal right in the main room as you watch-that's rubbed with a thin red Tabasco-laced sauce, and hence not quite as good. There are also hamburgers, egg-topped steaks, salmon, and appetizers of Portuguese sausage and shrimp cooked with garlic sauce. The place exhibits certain Brazilian touches, too, including dirty rice and very good black beans.
