Tierra Sana describes its menu as "tribal cuisine," and the guy who cooks the food is a combination chef and shaman. The cuisine melds several vegetarian traditions, often with good results. We liked the zucchini-stuffed enchiladas, covered with a cheesy sauce that the menu rather grandly describes as mole, though it reminded us more of the kind of Sonoran Mexican cooking one finds in, say, Denver. The hippie stir-fries are good examples of their type, including one described as Malaysian that adds coconut milk to a predictable catalog of curried vegetables. Most unusual is an upscale menu that incorporates wild culinary experiments--not always successful--and uses such ingredients as pheasant-seitan.
