Grainy photos of turn-of-the-century peasants set the stage for the thoroughly excellent and unpretentious grub you'll find at this Greek taverna. The palette of flavors is comically narrow-a squeeze of lemon here, a splash of wine vinegar there, a sprinkle of oregano, and maybe some garlic, all applied with a restrained hand: the art is not in the seasoning, but in the grilling. Red snapper is the most-celebrated grillade, but even better is the humble porgy, served two to a plate, which has a sharper, almost mackerelish flavor.
