Roast meats from a Middle Eastern-style menu are one focus of this ramped-up branch of a decades-old Atlantic Avenue institution Yemen Cafe, including wonderful roast lamb shanks and chicken, all meals including consommé, salad, and gigantic pitas brought piping hot from the oven. But unique tribal dishes are worth checking out, too, including salta, a bubbling pot of goo with a fenugreek emulsion on top called hilbeh, reminding you that Arabs were the first science chefs. Dip pieces of bread in the salta. Fatah is the only potential dessert on the menu, made with toasted bread strips flooded with butter and honey, topped with nigella seeds – but so irresistible, you may want to make an entire meal of it.
