Arte Cafe

106 W. 73rd St. New York, NY 10023 | West 70s | 212-501-7014

Location Description:

Located in a historic brownstone, this Upper West Side standby specializes in traditional Italian fare served at very reasonable prices. How reasonable? Come in between 4pm-6pm during the work week and get a three-course prix fixe meal for only $14.95. A la carte prices aren't too bad either, with nothing on the menu exceeding $20. Expect filling pastas like the spaghetti alla chitarra (noodles with crushed San Marzano tomatoes, burrata cheese and basil) and mains like the brasato (slow-cooked beef short rib with a Chianti sauce and truffle Cannelloni) and the grilled branzino. The long wine list includes a number of affordable Italian wines, with many bottles under $40; other drink options include Moretti on draft and cocktails like Asian pear martinis. Inside, the restaurant features a clean, traditional look, outfitted with exposed brick walls hung with black-and-white photos, hardwood floors and white tablecloths. During warm days, the sidewalk patio, surrounded by flower-filled planters, becomes the best place to sit.—Keith Wagstaff
