Boat Basin Café

W. 79th St. New York, NY 10024 | West 70s | 212-496-5542

Location Description:

The so-called specialty burger is a thing of beauty -- a half pound of charred pink flesh with a bandolier of applewood-smoked bacon, a mantling of aged cheddar, and flavorful sautéed onions. Unfortunately, as with many of the entrees, it comes with potato chips rather than fries. Sure, the service sucks at the Boat Basin Café, but the spectacular views of the City of Boats, the Hudson River, and Jersey high-rises far off in the background, coupled with reasonable prices, make it a worthwhile spot. Keep your eye peeled for special summer soups (we loved the watermelon-and-beet soup), and other vegetarian opportunities, such as the hummus-and-black-olive sandwich on good whole-grain bread.
